Psychological Evaluations

A Psychological Evaluation is a screening assessment that evaluates a person’s mental health and identifies any potential issues with their daily functioning through the use of interviews and standardized tests. The evaluation includes a review of symptoms, family and medical history, and any other relevant information. It is recommended for individuals who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, or any other mental health concerns. Once a diagnosis is given, recommendations and a treatment plan are also provided. The psychological evaluation can be conducted via telemedicine, (online video) or in-person and is typically 60-90 minutes in length.

Psychodiagnostic Cognitive & Behavioral Assessments (PCBA)

PCBA’s are recommended to individuals who are seeking a more comprehensive and in-depth assessment for their child (5 years to adulthood) or for themselves. Psychodiagnostic assessment services are used to answer specific referral questions, provide diagnostic clarity regarding psychological & cognitive disorders that interfere with a person’s daily functioning, or serve as formal documentation of psychological diagnoses and relevant clinical recommendations. This assessment includes a parent interview (Child), administration of several tests that measure various areas of cognitive, academic, and psychological functioning, and feedback sessions with the family, and outside sources (i.e., school teachers, medical & health practitioners and collateral sources). From the assessment, various areas of functioning are evaluated: behavior, emotional or mood function, personality traits, and cognitive processes. The psychodiagnostic assessment may take several hours and can be divided into 2-3 sessions.

Neuropsychological Evaluations

A Neuropsychological evaluation assesses one’s brain functions, which gives insight into the structural and functional integrity of the brain domains and how these functions can possibly be impaired. The evaluation consists of an interview and administration of several neuropsychological tests. It is recommended for individuals who are experiencing issues with memory, attention, cognitive functioning and/or delay in processing information. Specifically, for individuals who have experienced a head trauma, or traumatic brain injury (concussion), or who may have neurocognitive disorders or possible dementia or Alzhiemers disorder. Neurological evaluations are a comprehensive 3–5-part multi visit assessment, depending on the level of the person’s impairment:

Part 1

Initial Neural Intake: This is a 90-minute session administered via telemed or in-person.

Part 2

Brain Mapping Session: This is a 2 hours in person session. Using EEG technology, the brain map will examine the structure of the brain and highlight any areas of concern.

Part 3

Neuropsychological Evaluation: This is a 4-6 hour in person face-to-face sessions administered at PRS’ office, depending on the level of the person’s cognitive impairment.

Part 4

Analysis, integration of collateral information, such as medical, police and/or traffic report, personal and historical data and any relevant information needed. Possible follow-up interview as necessary to obtain clarification of information.

Part 5

Report writing, scoring of test results, integration of final data and the complete profile of the patient (part 4-5 usually takes 4-6 weeks).
